THE BERTHA DAVIS SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
THE BLACK WOMEN’S CAUCUS OF WASHINGTON STATE, Tacoma Chapter will award The Bertha Davis Scholarship to African American Students from selected high schools in the Pierce County Area. The scholarships will be in the amount of five hundred dollars ($500). The applicant may apply annually while enrolled in an institution of higher learning for no more than four (4) years as long as the eligibility criteria are maintained.
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must submit all required documents to our Scholarship Committee Chairperson no later than May 31, to the following address:

The application must be typed. If any part of the application is not complete, the applicant may be disqualified.
If an applicant wishes to share copies of awards or other pertinent items with the committee, please mail them along with the application.
QUALIFICATIONS
Each applicant must be an African American Student.
Graduating high school senior this current year, with a GPA of 2.50 or higher.
Planning to attend an accredited university, college, or technical institution.
Requirements
Each applicant must submit to the scholarship committee:
A complete copy of the applicant’s personal information form containing statements about his/her involvement in school activities; participation in community activities and organizations receipt of any awards certificate special recognition, future educational goals, and an essay of approximately 250 words regarding your concern(s) about our present society.
Three letters of recommendation teachers, school counsel/administrators, employers, other adults in the community. (exclusive of family members)
A sealed official transcript.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
Each applicant is evaluated on:
Quality of the Transcript.
Degree of involvement in school activities.
The extent of the involvement in community activities
Quality of the Essay.
Content of letters of recommendations.
